The Blind Monkey can touch the bomb but sees nothing, hears nothing and cannot speak. The Mute Monkey can read the defusal manual but cannot say a word. The Deaf Monkey can see everything and speak but hears nothing. All three combine into a full information chain: the manual reader, the bomb toucher and the coordinator who guides both.

The game imposes no communication method — you build your own. Agree on callout words for colours and numbers, use gestures for the mute monkey, use the emote wheel for quick messages, and throw bananas to get attention. Practice a verification loop: every instruction gets repeated back before someone touches the bomb.

Every bomb is built from puzzle modules with different rules. The defusal manual — readable only by the mute monkey — holds the answers to every module. Modules range from calculation puzzles to chaotic multi-module bombs. As you progress, bombs combine several modules at once, each with different rules and timers.

Start at level one and defuse your first bomb with a single module. Defuse successfully to unlock the next level — new modules and rules are introduced gradually. The difficulty curve rises as bombs gain more modules, tighter timers and nastier combinations. Replay earlier levels to practice communication and master each module type.

BOMBANANA! requires exactly three players — one for each monkey role. You cannot play solo or with two players. Find teammates in the official Discord if your squad is short a monkey. The game is designed around the asymmetric three-role system, so three players is not just recommended but required.

Yes, a free demo was released on June 15, 2026 during Steam Next Fest and was played by over 6 million players. The demo closes on August 19, 2026. The full game launches on September 2, 2026 on Steam.

BOMBANANA! has role-restricted in-game voice chat — some monkeys can talk, some cannot, matching the asymmetric design.
