BOMBANANA! Role System is the heart of the game—three monkeys, each with one sensory superpower and one sensory blackout, must work together to defuse bombs before time runs out. The Blind Monkey sees everything but cannot speak. The Mute Monkey hears everything but cannot speak. The Deaf Monkey hears audio cues but cannot hear verbal instructions. This asymmetry is not a bug but the entire point: no single player can solve a bomb alone, and victory only comes through trust and coordination. Understanding what each monkey can and cannot do is the single most important skill in BOMBANANA!.

Core Mechanics

The three-monkey relay works in a strict chain: Blind describes, Mute answers, Deaf acts. Breaking this chain—having the Blind player speak directly to the Deaf player, or having the Mute player touch the bomb—causes immediate confusion and almost certain failure. Each role has a specific information channel: the Blind player receives visual information and must translate it into verbal description; the Mute player receives both visual and auditory information and must translate it into written or gestured responses; the Deaf player receives auditory information and physical cues from teammates and must translate that into precise physical actions on the bomb. Role rotation during a defusal is possible but risky—always confirm the rotation with a physical signal before switching information channels.

First, role clarity eliminates social conflict: because each monkey has exactly defined boundaries, there is never a debate about who should do what.
